The Untamed Countryman goes for a more active, outdoorsy look.

Untamed is apparently about being ready for all the adventures that lie beyond the city limits and the all-wheel drive Cooper S plug-in hybrid verision I drove was both practical in size and yet semi-guilt free in terms of emissions. Still beaming from the hatch I then switched to the ‘not so Mini’ Countryman and with it the ‘Untamed’ theme.

The brighter furniture and golden/bronze trim gives a sense of exclusivity and for me, having a manual gearbox and driving the wrong side of both the car and road just added to the Mini experience. To empathise the feeling of driving something special, Mini has added things like a laser-engraved ring for the instrument cluster (which has the latest generation operating system), a special cabin lighting system for night driving and an upmarket Nappa sports leather steering wheel that bears the edition emblem on the lower spoke, just in case you forget which model you’re driving.Īs I said before, the 3-door Resolute hatch performs the same as a regular Cooper S hatch, but it just feels better. If you buy the Resolute Edition you better like yellow. The Countryman Untamed range consists of the Cooper S at $68,490 and the Cooper SE PHEV at $74,890, while the Clubman Untold range consists of the $66,500 Cooper S and the $81,300 JCW. The 5-door hatch kicks off the local Resolute range at $52,450 for the Cooper, topping out at $68,930 for the 3-door Cooper SE electric.

The three new ‘Editions’ represent the first time Mini has released different special editions across a range of its cars at the same time, with the ‘Resolute Edition’ being available on the hatch (including the three-door, five-door, convertible and Mini Electric variants), while the ‘Untold Edition’ is only available as a Clubman and the ‘Untamed Edition’ as a Countryman. Mini has released three new special editions: the Resolute hatch, Untold Clubman and Untamed Countryman.Īdmittedly, hooning down the autobahn in Germany at nigh-on 250kph wasn’t exactly how I imagined I’d be trying Mini’s new trio of special editions, but I guess needs must and some days are better than others.
